Remote Outreach and Education Programs
GroundWorks DanceTheater has been working on ways to offer remote outreach and education opportunities for both our current and potentially new partners. If you are interested in any of the options below or have an idea that you do not see listed, please reach out to our Education Director Joan Meggitt at joan@groundworksdance.org
Technique & Other Classes
Both live and prerecorded classes in various styles can be offered, including typical technique (Modern, Contemporary, Ballet) or Cross Training Options such as FloorWork Fundamentals, Meditation, Yoga, Floor barre, etc. We can also include company members teaching sections of Repertory.
Creative Process
Option 1
Bring a GroundWorks member to your classroom! Dancers will log onto your online class portal to join your class live! From there, they will guide students to build their own short movement studies through the GroundWorks Creative Process. If you would like to continue this option for multiple class sessions, GroundWorks can work with you to implement that structure.
Option 2
Receive pre-recorded videos of GroundWorks company members introducing different movement tasks. Videos will come with instructions and optional layers to increase difficulty. Students will work from videos and instructions to build their own movement studies. GroundWorks will also submit reflection questions and next step prompts to evolve this study further.
Dance As A Career
Option 1
Bring a GroundWorks member to your classroom! Dancers will log onto your online class portal to join your class live! Dancers will present briefly on a prepared topic (i.e, selecting the right college program, arts admin paths and skills, dancer wellness, etc.) before opening up a Q&A for students to ask their own set of questions. Artists will do their best to provide anecdotal and historical evidence as well as provide links and resources whenever possible.
Option 2
Receive pre-recorded videos of GroundWorks members presenting briefly on a prepared topic. You will then have time to work with your class to prepare a list of questions for the artists. Artists will then record themselves answering selected questions and return the videos along with links and resources.
