Creative Notes from Choreographer, David Shimotakahara

Last winter I was introduced to a friend’s amazing antique jigsaw puzzle collection. The different shapes, the pieces of things and how they fit or didn’t fit together stuck in my head. I didn’t know then what a rich metaphor it would become for the myriad ways we try to connect. At this time I think of the many contradictions we are facing, how we are struggling with complex issues that are deeply divisive while being inextricably linked by the unprecedented circumstances of the pandemic. Our interdependence and need for each other is undeniable.
