GroundWorks’ Fall Performance Highlights Midwest Choreographers
Six months after its collaborative project to stage Carmina burana with the Akron Symphony, GroundWorks DanceTheater’s (GWDT) artistic director said he’s happy to be presenting a program that is the complete opposite.
“We came off an enormously satisfying project, ‘Carmina Burana,’ and this is such a different piece,” said David Shimotakahara of “Chromatic,” the work he choreographed for the company’s fall performance series. It will be staged Nov. 18-19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Akron-Summit County Main Library Auditorium, 60 S. High St.
Also to be performed are works by Robyn Mineko Williams, of Chicago, and Beth Corning, of Pittsburgh.
“It wasn’t planned that way, but all the artists are from the Midwest,” Shimotakahara said.
