Project Description
About the Work
Gina’s choreography weaves into and around the music of Patsy Cline’s late recordings sometimes in response to lyrics of the songs, hinting at their stories and relationships, sometimes capturing the mood or essence of the music, its underlying pulse or rhythms. Patsy Cline one of the great voices in country music, had a string of hits in the early 60’s that crossed over into mainstream popular music recognition. She was the first female artist to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Her music communicates about love and heartache and loneliness and dreams in ways that are universally understood and felt. She was killed tragically in an airplane crash at the age of 30 and many who knew her said she had a premonition that she would die young.
