Project Description
EDU K-12 Residency at Rainey Institute
Since September of 2013, Rainey Institute and GroundWorks have partnered to offer a comprehensive ballet fundamentals program for students ages 6 – 10 at Rainey Institute on E. 55th Street in downtown Cleveland. A dancer/teacher from the GroundWorks company leads students in year-round program consisting of two classes per week for two 14-week semesters, one in fall and one in spring. Beginning fall of 2014, Rainey and GroundWorks began offering two levels of classes.
Proper ballet technique and deportment are emphasized and standard ballet attire is required of all students. Students participate in an end-of-year performance/demonstration for parents and community. In addition, the students and their families can attend GroundWorks performances at no cost in order to experience professional dance in a professional setting and connect the young dancers to GroundWorks on a completely different level.
