Dance festival showcasing regional faves (preview)

AKRON — The Heinz Poll Summer Dance Festival schedule features an inventive New York City-based company, as well as three regional favorites that will continue Akron’s tradition of free professional dance performances in city parks.

In its weekend of performances, GroundWorks will perform a new work in collaboration with New York-based choreographer Monica Bill Barnes. The company also will reprise “Inamorata,” which it debuted in 2013, and will present Artistic Director David Shimotakahara’s “Chromatic,” which was first performed last fall.
